If you use a typical English dictionary, you’ll find that many words and phrases listed are not common in everyday, casual English. This post will help you identify words that native English speakers use on a daily basis to express how they feel; from hunger to fatigue.
1. I’m exausted
Instead of simply saying “I’m tired” you can emphasize your feeling by using the word “exhuasted” which basically means: to be extremely tired. You may or not be tired to the level of exhaustion, but native speakers like to exagerage their feelings when speaking to friends.
2. I’m starving
Saying “I’m starving” is another way to emphasize your feeling. In this case, the word is used to expressed extreme hunger. Instead of simply saying “I’m hungry,” you can express that it is difficult to cope with your hunger.
3. I’m so bored
It’s quite common in non-native English environments to get the usages of “bored” and “boring” mixed up. If you say that you are “boring,” it means that you are an uninteresting person. If you say that you are “bored,” it means that you are not enjoying your current situation and want to do something more interesting.
4. I’m super excited
Using the word “excited” is a common way to express your joy for an upcoming event or happening of some kind. For example, you can say “I’m so excited to go the beach this weekend! It’s been so long since I’ve been on vacation.”
